Irritating

Posted by Michelle under: Introspection; Mom Time; .

Do your children ever irritate you?
Right now, both of mine have been irritating me. I’m wondering if it’s me or them, developmental or sin, or perhaps temperament and gender.

Bethel has been very emotional. It’s possible she’s not feeling well: she does seem to be cutting a couple of molars, and although I don’t always notice when they’re cutting teeth, I have noticed a bit more “sensitivity” from my daughter around these times. She’s hasn’t been consistent in obeying lately, but thankfully seems to be consistent in her quick response to discipline.

David’s started lagging on the obedience. I’m wondering if I’ve been inconsistent or merely overlooking disobedience. Perhaps it has just begun in the last few days. He’s also managed to do so many things he’s never been told not to do before (”If you do that again, Mommy will discipline you”) that I’m afraid I can’t remember what I’ve warned him about and what I haven’t.

They’ve both been crying/ squealing/ screaming when they don’t get their way. Bethel knows how to irritate David, and delights in getting a response. She’s too young to do that, I thought. David’s been grabbing things from Bethel and ignoring (or enjoying?) her screams of displeasure.

And me? I’m just glad they’re taking a nap so they can regroup!

Maybe a nap will do ME some good, too!
