The eyes of the Lord are in every place…

Update on the comprehension of God’s Omniscience.

When I ask David if God sees him [name the action here], his answer depends. If the action is being kind to his sister, obeying mom, or some other positive action, he’ll answer, “Yes” (God sees him). David’s answer when he is being sinful is consistently, “No.” (“Did God see you when you disobeyed mommy?” “No.”)

I’m convinced that he understands the question. I think this is a fascinating look into a child’s ability to truly believe he can hide from God. Then again, maybe David is expressing openly what we adults live secretly– God doesn’t see me doing wrong. Food for thought.

Started working on Proverbs 15:3. The eyes of the LORD are in every place, beholding the evil and the good.

Pride

On a recent trip out to eat, our dear three year old decided to help pass the time by singing. He sang really loud, loud enough for people to turn around and look. We parents who were sitting next to him did not tell him to sing more quietly. Why?

He was singing “Jesus Loves Me.”

My husband and I both agreed later that had he been singing any other song, we would have stopped the concert. What kept us from interfering?

The fact is, we were proud of his spiritual accomplishment. Proud to be advertising his spirituality, like people showing off the tricks of a pet dog. This is sin, and does not, in the long run, help him to be a humble man of God.

If singing loudly in a restaurant is rude, it is rude even if he is singing a Christian song. Rudeness is not a testimony, and neither is pride.
