Jesus says(specifically in the context of serving …

Jesus says(specifically in the context of serving others): If ye know these things, happy are ye if ye do them. John 13:17 We talk about this verse when we are angry. When you are not obeying God, you will be unhappy. What does God say will make us happy? We also talk about this verse [...]

What to teach…

30th January 2007 | 0 Comments

“I don’t want to share!” said David with tears this morning, as I was helping him share with little sister. Once again I am struck that David does not have the Holy Spirit residing within him. He has no reason to share except the fear of mom, or the recognition that life goes better when [...]

The Center of My Life?

29th January 2007 | 0 Comments

When my kids grow up, what will they say my life revolved around? The computer? The phone? Good Christian books? Friends? I’d like my life to revolve around the Bible. It’s one thing to tell them how important God’s word is, but if my life says otherwise, my words will not be convincing. I must [...]

20/20 Hindsight

26th January 2007 | 0 Comments

Have you ever realized too late that you weren’t parenting well? The other day at Walmart, we were in the checkout lane, and David and Bethel both were all over the place. Bethel kept touching the ATM card reader. They both were in and out of their seats. I was waiting for the checkout person [...]

Evening Routine with Laurel (3 months)

25th January 2007 | 0 Comments

Evening Routine with Laurel (3 months) Fed Laurel at 5:45ish. She fell asleep around 6:45ish. Woke up around 7:15ish. Got fussy and fed around 8:15ish. Changed messy diaper and put to bed around 8:45. During most of the day, I feed Laurel when she’s hungry (usually around three hours, give or take 30 minutes). At [...]

Copout or Thoughtful Parenting?

25th January 2007 | 0 Comments

A good friend recently commented on an acquaintance of hers who had children so unruly that they had to purchase two of everything, to keep the peace. I’ve been thinking about that comment for a few weeks, now, because we have two of a great many toys. I think understanding child development might help with [...]

It Takes Humility…

22nd January 2007 | 0 Comments

It takes humility to admit when you overreacted …to admit you were wrong …to ask for help …to be thankful and content for what you were given … to allow someone else to be wrong. One of my burdens is to teach our children to be humble. Part of teaching humility is teaching what humility [...]

Teasing and Empathy

19th January 2007 | 0 Comments

Sometimes it’s hard for a child to know where to draw the line in acceptable, fun teasing, and unacceptable teasing. We’re working on this from both directions with both our older children (how to stop unwanted teasing, and how to know when to stop teasing). It doesn’t help that screaming is so effective at getting [...]

Prayer for the Sleep Deprived Mom

18th January 2007 | 0 Comments

Several of my friends have been struggling with getting enough sleep. Here is a prayer for them: Lord, Use the lack of sleep to remind them to call upon you, to wait on you through your Word. Renew their strength. Give them the sleep they need, as you have promised to supply their needs. Help [...]

A City that Is Set on a Hill

17th January 2007 | 1 Comment

Yesterday, David asked “Are all the people in these houses our neighbors?” (he’s referring to the many houses in our subdivision) I responded in the affirmative, although I clarified that most people consider your neighbors to be those people that live closest to us. Then I asked, “Did you know somebody asked Jesus this question, [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
