What do I know about the spiritual condition of my children?
- I know that there is no one that in himself seeks after God or understands the Word of God. (Romans 3:10ff; 1 Corinthians 2:10ff)
- I know that there is a natural law of conscience in an unsaved person’s life. (Romans 2:15ff)
- I know that the Holy Spirit draws an unsaved individual to himself in some way.
- I know that the word of God is quick and powerful. (Hebrews 4:12)
There are a number of implications of these truths that I want to think through. Basically, I think that I must not be surprised or distressed at the lack of goodness in my children (and it doesn’t matter about other people’s children). I must not neglect to talk about the law of God and what it means to disobey that law. I know that I must have faith that God will use the Word of God to pierce the conscience of my children. I am walking by faith because I do not yet see the effects of the Bible on my kids that the Word of God describes.
