Update: First Music Class

This morning went well. Laurel slept through it all. Bethel jumped and played with the other children. David watched. Reminder to self: watching is good. Remember not to comment on this as though it were newsworthy.

I managed to finish cleaning the house with a little help from the Sesame Street website (yes, I occasionally use the computer as a babysitter). I did have to pull out the ladder to change a smoke alarm that started beeping; we have very high ceilings. (I have developed an inexplicable fear of heights in my old[er] age, so I usually let Lee do this job.) And I started feeling a bit lightheaded since I hadn’t had breakfast (or maybe I should start taking vitamins again). I felt better after eating a chicken sandwich. I also decided it was okay if the laundry wasn’t done, or my floors weren’t mopped, and then I felt better. Reminder to self: Eat breakfast, take vitamins, remember it’s okay not to be perfect.

A good time was had by all. Children cried when it was over (a good sign). After the last mother left, I realized that I didn’t know most of their names. Reminder to self: make name tags for moms.

  • Thanks, Maya!
I know God helped me calm down. I was able to get David and Bethel to sit down the day before and go through my class with them, and that helped. I also saved a few songs with weird intervals for later, and that took some stress off, too! (Still, last night after getting up to calm a frightened child, I couldn’t go to sleep because I kept thinking about what I was going to do next time.)

    I am not a good pill taker…

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
