Preferring One Another

20th March 2007 | 0 Comments

I guess I did say something spiritual yesterday, and what’s more, David remembered! Yesterday, David said at breakfast, “Serve me first!” I told him that God wants us to serve others first. (In retrospect, I probably should have asked a question instead of lecturing…) This morning, I came to the table and David informed me [...]

Today

19th March 2007 | 0 Comments

Today was much better than yesterday. Still a lot of emotions around here, but I was more sane, so that helped immensely. To be truthful, I started better. I made the Lord my refuge instead of… oh, many things I do when I”m overwhelmed (Ps 62:1). I suppose it also helped that the kids woke [...]

When Dad Is Gone…

19th March 2007 | 0 Comments

… All the women in our house get more emotional.  We’ll see how we do today. I’m not sure if Laurel and Bethel are getting sick, or just missing dad, or responding to my stress. I need to spend more time in God’s Word. That will help me worry less. Why are you so fearful, [...]

Bedtime Wiggles

17th March 2007 | 0 Comments

After driving all day yesterday, we arrived home. Lee left this morning for five days (medical training). Tonight Bethel is having a hard time going to sleep. She’s wiggling and being noisy, both actions that are quite effective in keeping herself awake. I disciplined her for disobeying (getting out of bed when I told her [...]

Grandma’s House– The Hardest Part

17th March 2007 | 0 Comments

One of the hardest parts of visiting relatives for me is discipline. Now you must understand that our family is supportive of our commitment to biblical discipline. We don’t always agree on the particulars, but as far as families go, we’re all pretty much on the same page (or close to it), particularly when you [...]

Grandma’s House

15th March 2007 | 2 Comments

We’re at my parents’ house, along with my brother and his family, for a short vacation before Lee goes on a week trip out of town next week. The children are so excited to be spending time with their cousins and grandparents, but there are several challenges they face while here. The first is eating. [...]

Sandwich Crisis

14th March 2007 | 0 Comments

A tired David came crying into the living room yesterday. Daddy had decided to make hot dogs, unaware that David had already asked me for a peanut butter and honey sandwich. I cringed from the other room when I heard Lee say “You can have a sandwich tomorrow. Today we’re having hot dogs.” Sure enough, [...]

“Give Us Wisdom” Part 2

13th March 2007 | 0 Comments

Read Part 1 first. True confession: I love helpful hint books. When I was a kid, I’d find an old Hints from Heloise book at the thrift store, and I’d learn all about how to get wine out of your tablecloth and gum out of your hair. I probably have hundreds of helpful tips stored [...]

Okay?

11th March 2007 | 2 Comments

I’m wondering how often I say okay with my children, and whether I have a problem with it. “We’re going to get you dressed, okay?” Is this simply a request for feedback, where the correct response to the question is “Yes, Ma’am”? Do I use it for “event changes” more than “obedience commands” ? (We’re [...]

“Give Us Wisdom” Part 1

9th March 2007 | 0 Comments

Some time ago, I read some very good advice on a blog from what appears to be a godly, wise woman. The response was overwhelming. “Give us more wisdom” several said eagerly. This request bothered me then, and has stuck with me. Are we ever to seek wisdom from people? What this lady had to [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
