Back Home, and Catching Up

We got back early Saturday night from our St. Louis trip. It’s great to be home.

The kids survived the trip. I picked up some magic picture books, some Model Magic clay, and some stickers and notebooks. Between those things, books and toys we had already, and food, they did okay. We also stopped at the Blue Hole on a geocache stop and watched some scuba divers training.

On the to do list: We started reading Heartfelt Discipline on the trip home. I want to start writing several posts discussing the book a few chapters at a time. I also started potty training Bethel. We’ll see if I can demonstrate the perseverance I’m always talking about with my kids. Is there a verse about perseverance? Another goal is to make dinner for two weeks without going out to eat once. That may sound like a silly goal, but it’s a good one for me, and a challenge.

And… a gal from church said that her girls would be happy to babysit for me while we have a ladies Bible study. Since music class is over, I’m looking for something else to do. We’re going to do mom’s book newly retitled Parenting with Wisdom, and I’ll be writing on that too. I love this book.

In two weeks, Lee is going to Ecuador. Not sure if my dad is well enough to come out here, but I’ll either spend it here in NM with my parents or go out to southern California and stay at their house.

Challenges: Bedtime! Hoping the last few nights are a good sign, since both older children went to bed and sleep without any trouble. We’ll see how they do. Laurel did a little better sleeping last night, but not back to where we were before she left. And I’d like to work on having my house looking nice when Lee comes home. I think he must feel like I did when we came back to our room and the beds were made and the trash emptied. Speaking of which, I must go get the laundry. We’ll see how I do today.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
