Consistency

Posted by Michelle under: Mom Time; .

When I was in high school and some of college, I played the piano. During those days, I practiced about 2-3 hours a day. Now a famous pianist once said, If I skip practice one day, I notice; if I skip practice for two days my close family and friends notice; and if I skip practice three days, everyone else notices. I could attest in those days the truth of that statement, although now, it doesn’t make a difference if I skip one day or ten. It doesn’t work unless I’m immersing myself in music.

I bet Bible reading works the same way. I’m thinking about this because vacations are hard for me to be consistent reading my Bible. It shouldn’t be that way, but I tend to get up running, since usually everyone else is awake and ready for the day before me. Since my dad retired, my parents don’t get up as early, but I’m still not doing what I should be. Fatigue could be a part of this, but I cannot afford to neglect my Bible reading and prayer time. I’m a better mom when I spend time with God. It doesn’t have to be long, but I do have to renew my mind. So that’s what I will do right now.
