Monday Morning

On Saturday, David and I were working on a F-14 Lego set together while Lee was at the hospital. While I was showing him (again) how to follow the instructions, I thought about the necessity of God’s Word for living our lives. So we talked about that as we constructed the landing gear. I’m thankful God gave me that thought. I need to pray this morning that God would continue to show me ways I can talk about Him throughout the day.

I feel rather empty of ideas like that, and I know what I’d really like is a list. What did you use to talk about the Lord today? But if I had a list, then I might be deceived into thinking that I didn’t need God, and God has promised to supply my need in this area. It’s not that sharing ideas with each other is wrong, but it is wrong to believe those ideas essential. God is essential, not the ideas of wise mothers. Maybe we just need to attribute the ideas of wise mothers to the right source, and then we won’t be overly dependent. Or maybe God will occasionally move us to a place where we don’t have any wise mothers nearby, in order to teach us where our dependence truly should be.

When we do fellowship with other mothers, may we actually remind each other where we get our daily bread, and thank Him together for His wisdom. God surprised me by sending a friend whom I could pray with like that here in our small town. I’m thankful for her, too.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
