Singing in Church

Posted by Michelle under: Discipleship; .

Today during church I decided to sing with Bethel instead of fussing at David to sing (lately I’ve been ignoring them both as long as they behave). As Bethel “sang” with me, I again started to worry about David: He shows little interest in the things of God…. Four year olds love to sing, and he doesn’t…. Maybe he’s imitating the children who don’t sing (wretched children!), and we should sit behind children who do sing (spiritual children, of course)…. Maybe I’m doing something wrong…. Maybe I should be forcing him to sing…

But on the second song, David asked me to show him where the song was, and then to my amazement he sang, and sang with gusto. I sat in wonder.

Of course, knowing the personality of my son, I shouldn’t be surprised. It’s another reminder that I am not the Holy Spirit, and I must trust God even when I cannot see Him at work.
