Is Superhero Play Benign?

17th September 2007 | 6 Comments

I was at someone else’s house, away from the other adults, watching my children and other children play together. I was glad for the opportunity. The hostess had set up a tiny kiddie pool full of soapy water, and gave the children hangers to make huge bubbles. They loved it, and soon had imagined that [...]

Overwhelmed with Life

16th September 2007 | 0 Comments

I’m hoping this Sunday is restorative. I need the Balm of Gilead today. We’ve had a busy week, interruptions in the middle of the night almost every night (Lee is on call, and it’s been a busy one), sick children, a baby who suddenly wants to be held at all moments, a house that won’t [...]

Answered Prayer and Spiritual Conversations

14th September 2007 | 0 Comments

Today I ended up talking about sin and repentance in a little different context than I thought I would. I was rather tickled because I see God’s hand throughout the day, just as I’ve asked. I was feeling somewhat guilty because I’ve not taken the time to sing with my children like I should. I [...]

Prerequisites for Repentance

14th September 2007 | 0 Comments

I’m thinking that perhaps in my rush for results, I’m trying to teach repentance when I need to teach a few other things first. Yesterday while the girls were napping and David resting, I spent quite a bit of time reading Psalm 51. And then this morning I was reading Romans 2 and stopped to [...]

Disciplining our Thoughts

13th September 2007 | 2 Comments

We talk about disciplining our children, but sometimes we need to discipline our thoughts. A few verses we talked about today: I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: [...]

Finding Wisdom to Teach Repentance

12th September 2007 | 0 Comments

In spite of my recognition that my children needed to learn repentance, and my desire to teach it, I haven’t taken the time to study on the matter. Last night Lee had some work to do, so instead of pulling out a good book, the Lord gave me the grace to get started on studying [...]

The Quick and Easy Way to Wisdom

11th September 2007 | 2 Comments

If you’re a regular reader at As4Me, you’ll know that the post title is a joke. Actually, wisdom comes dear. It is paid for with sweat, self-denial, and perseverance. My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart [...]

Wisdom and Demand Feeding

10th September 2007 | 0 Comments

How you choose to feed your baby is not a spiritual issue, but because a number of folks try to make it so, a good reminder is helpful now and then. Nancy Wilson gives a great response on her blog. Wisdom is the principal thing. Get wisdom!

Teaching Children Repentance

8th September 2007 | 1 Comment

David’s actions during conflict reveals that he believes “I’m sorry” is merely something you say to make things better with someone who doesn’t like what you’re doing. It’s clear he really doesn’t understand what being sorry or repentant is all about. I do make a distinction between saying I’m sorry (for unintentional/ accidental hurts) and [...]

Mom as a Mentor

7th September 2007 | 2 Comments

I’ve been interested instead of learning how to help my children solve their problems when I’m not around. I’m learning this takes a lot more hands-on interaction than I want sometimes (particularly when I have company, or am at someone else’s house), but I think it will pay off later. Not too long ago I [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
