Family News

I finally succumbed to the sickness that graced our Thanksgiving feast day, so I’ve not been productive the last few days. This will be a busy week. I still have catchup to do from Thankgiving and a houseful of company. Lee tells me that we’ll be at Nellis Air Force Base (near Las Vegas) this coming weekend. He has a conference and decided we all should go. It will be fun. Nellis is a busy fighter jet base, so we’ll see many jets.

While I was sick, I didn’t think many spiritual thoughts. I found it a challenge to be mom when I wanted to let the children do whatever they wanted, as long as they didn’t kill themselves or each other. With that struggle, I need to catch up on my Bible reading. I feel physically weak because I didn’t eat more than a few bites of anything the last two days. I don’t “feel” the same weakness spiritually, but the fact is, I need the daily bread of God’s Word every bit as much as physical food. I’d like to be like Job, who said he treasured the words of God’s mouth more than his necessary food (Job 23:12).

I know there are those who have prayed for me at church. I’m thankful for the positive outlook on the day, even though I have Bible reading to do, dishes in the sink, and a mountain of laundry to catch up on. God really must be working in my life!
