Here are some verses I’ve been thinking on for a few weeks now.

Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? Proverbs 20:6

Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. Proverbs 25:19

I don’t want to be like a broken tooth, but I wonder how often I am unfaithful. On Sunday, I may take note of people whom I would like to send a card, but often, I forget and it doesn’t get done. Sometimes I’ll tell my children I’ll help them in a minute, and I get distracted and one minute becomes much longer. Other times I know I’ve said, “When you’re done with this, we’ll do that” and inserted another task in the middle when the original task was completed.

Remember Romans 1:31? “Covenant breakers” are characteristic of one in rebellion toward God. Maybe I’m still not seeing the seriousness of being unfaithful.

How has the Scripture changed me? Well… Not enough, frankly. However, I have some thank-you notes that I need to get written, and some phone calls to make. I can do the notes tonight, and the calls tomorrow. I should be writing down what needs to be done. I can do that tonight, too. And for my children, I have found myself being more careful when I tell them to do something, to actually follow through and do it. I can see improvement there, I think. That’s a good start. Now, off to get the notecards.
