No Pain?

14th December 2007 | 0 Comments

Lee received a book awhile back that discussed pain from a Christian physician’s perspective. In it, the author told of a child who could literally feel no pain. If she cut herself, she wouldn’t feel it. If she was running on a twisted foot, she couldn’t feel it. She would bite her fingers until they [...]

Alternatives to Spanking

13th December 2007 | 3 Comments

I’m always interested in learning different ways of handling similar challenges. The other day, we were at the store, and one child had been struggling with whining. At every turn, she was unhappy about something. She didn’t want to let her brother have a turn in the car portion of the cart, she wanted to [...]

Truth Telling

12th December 2007 | 1 Comment

Lying lips are abomination to the LORD: but they that deal truly are his delight. Proverbs 12:22 Today we talked about lying again. When I asked about a damaged container, David’s response was I don’t know. I asked both children several times what happened, with the same response. Since Bethel at age three still doesn’t [...]

Blogging Holiday

11th December 2007 | 0 Comments

Lee was home Monday and, as usual, I got little done. Tuesday, I have music class at our house, Thursday I have Bible study at our house, and Saturday I have Lee’s WHOLE clinic staff coming over. I need to actually focus my ADD brain a little to get caught up around the house, and [...]

What Do You Want to Be?

10th December 2007 | 7 Comments

The other morning we were playing store. We picked out toys to sell and made a price list. I started getting into the creative mode and asked David where he got all his money. He didn’t know, so I started prompting him with occupation ideas… a doctor like daddy, a preacher, a pilot. Predictably, David [...]

Potty Training Update

8th December 2007 | 2 Comments

I haven’t posted any commentary on the potty training saga, mostly because I think I learned the lessons I needed to learn, and Bethel just needed time. But it’s time for an update. About a month ago, I came to the conclusion that we’d be done with diapers, and I’d just try to anticipate the [...]

Reading the Bible

7th December 2007 | 3 Comments

It’s easy when one’s life is feeling chaotic from several very young children to dismiss the need for Scripture. Doesn’t God have compassion on our situation? After all, He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those [...]

Stewing

6th December 2007 | 2 Comments

I’m stewing over several ideas, and I’m having a hard time grappling with them. I spent all afternoon trying to make sense of my thoughts, and finally gave up. Surely my husband could read my mind and help me make sense of my thoughts where I could not. Alas. My thoughts are heretofore unintelligible, even [...]

Toothaches and Broken Feet

5th December 2007 | 0 Comments

Here are some verses I’ve been thinking on for a few weeks now. Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find? Proverbs 20:6 Confidence in an unfaithful man in time of trouble is like a broken tooth, and a foot out of joint. Proverbs 25:19 I don’t [...]

Destructiveness, Part 2

4th December 2007 | 3 Comments

This post is a result of a discussion about destructiveness. I made the statement that young children do not by and large understand the value of property. This statement was challenged, so I’ve been reevaluating what I think. I still stand by my statement, with a qualifier that perhaps my own children uniquely do not [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
