How to Respond to Whiny Self

17th January 2008 | 0 Comments

Tonight at dinner, I was irritated with my dear husband for some petty matter. As he began to pray, I was rehearsing my complaints in my head once again. At once I was rebuked at my failure to practice what I’ve been instructing, and I laughed to myself at the irony of thanking God for [...]

How to Respond to Whiny Children

16th January 2008 | 4 Comments

Around our house, we’ve seen a glut of complaining recently, and not just in my children. I’ve noticed my own self complain more than once, and I’ve heard the same whiny tone in my own voice that I dislike in my children’s. So I determined this Wisdom Wednesday to work on something that we can [...]

What I’ve Been Saying

15th January 2008 | 0 Comments

Of course, there are the non-helpful things that I didn’t include, like Stop crying or Let mommy finish this on the computer. And I didn’t put any specific praise comments, although I hope (and think) that I say these repeatedly, too. I don’t remember those words, but these are the things I’ve been saying more [...]

Driving Home on a Sunday

14th January 2008 | 0 Comments

Once again we drove home from California on a Sunday. I lost my purse, and we spent Saturday trying to find it with no success. So we packed up and left extra early Sunday morning, just in time to get to church in Phoenix suburbs. Last time we did this and found that it gave [...]

Busy Relationships

12th January 2008 | 0 Comments

On Thursday and Friday we spent quite a bit of time visiting relatives. We did a lot of driving, but we saw all the Brock cousins, and the Ironwood cousins (Lee’s cousin’s children), Lee’s Aunt and Uncle and Great Grandma. The children have enjoyed playing with them all. We also managed to squeeze in a [...]

Problem Solving Scenarios

I found a file I wrote a few years ago, when David and Bethel were almost exactly Bethel and Laurel’s ages now (David was 2 1/2 years, and Bethel was 1 year). I found it helpful to read, since it seems I’ve got the same challenges! Here it is exactly as I wrote it. Scenario: [...]

How Will I Serve?

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye [...]

Needed Wisdom

8th January 2008 | 0 Comments

When I am on vacation, I usually have opportunity to test some students who are having learning difficulty. It’s something fun I do three or four times a year. Since I’m primarily testing Christian, homeschooled students, it is fun to teach them how to put their struggles within a biblical framework. Yesterday I talked about [...]

Preschool and the Local Church

7th January 2008 | 5 Comments
This entry is part 2 of 2 in the series Preschool Decisions

As far as I can tell, preschool may indeed meet the genuine needs of some parents. The question I keep asking is whether it’s the best choice for our family. I’m certain it might be for other families, and I do think it is important for those of us who have chosen not to use [...]

Getting Left Out

6th January 2008 | 0 Comments

Yesterday I noticed Bethel was getting clingy and irritable, and today I figured out why. David is her best friend, and the past week, he’s not played with her at all. Even though the cousins do play with her some, most of their games don’t interest her or make sense to her. I think she [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
