Find the Answers You Need Here

I’m not sure I communicated well the significance of what happened in the incident I wrote about yesterday.

  1. I realized I had a question/ problem I didn’t know what to do about.
  2. I started looking for a solution by doing an internet search.
  3. I became dissatisfied with the information I found.
  4. I turned my thoughts toward God’s Word, and opened my Bible to search.
  5. The dissatisfaction left me, and was replaced with confidence that I was on the right path, and joy at the goodness of God for directing me there.
  6. (I still don’t know the answers, btw)

I was looking first to man’s wisdom for the answers, when I should have remembered Mathew 6:33.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
What gave me so much delight was that when I opened Proverbs and started reading, I knew God was directing my path.

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

My burden is that readers of this blog are motivated to seek God first, too, because I believe He keeps his promises. I also want to turn the attention to God’s Word when I am looking for help with my children. God’s Word will change them and me. The practical stuff like feeding and sleeping survival, that’s fun to share. The solutions I have found might be helpful for your family, but the biblical principles will remain the same. That’s where the value lies. When we ask for advice (or search on the internet), may we ask first, “Does God have anything to say about this?” That’s a large part of how we “acknowledge him.”

With that, go read your Bible. Me too.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
