Should I Ever Ignore Anger?

16th June 2008 | 10 Comments

These comments are in response to Diane’s comments here: I don’t think we are ignoring it if we are displaying correct behavior on our part (which is your quest, from what I’ve read…mine too!) and teaching our kids to choose and model correct reactions (also on your 24/7 to-do list, I’ve seen). Those things are [...]

Replacing Unkindness with Kindness

12th June 2008 | 2 Comments

When my children are unkind, I want to help them put off the old man of unkindness and put on the new man of kindness. What will that look like? First, I require asking forgiveness, not just making a statement of apology (etymology: a defense). They must name a sin and ask for a response. [...]

What We're Talking About

So after he had washed their feet, and had taken his garments, and was set down again, he said unto them, Know ye what I have done to you? Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye [...]

Approach to Anger

10th June 2008 | 4 Comments

My husband suggested that my last post was somewhat confusing. Since he already knows what’s percolating in my mind and should be able to fill in the gaps others might find, that’s not good! This has been a busy week, so keeping my thoughts in a linear organization has been especially challenging. Maybe I was [...]

Problem Fixed?

9th June 2008 | 0 Comments

I’ve been alert for examples of anger in baby so I can think through them, but she hasn’t seemed to have any problems over the weekend. Any time that baby has been angry, I’ve simply said, “No. That’s anger.” Every time I’ve done that, she has stopped the intensity (not necessarily the crying). She hasn’t [...]

What’s Causing the Behavior?

6th June 2008 | 0 Comments

Yesterday we looked at different contributing factors to baby being angry. This is a good step as we strive to think about responding to a challenge biblically. With an infant, I tend to wonder first whether the problem is developmental, something normal (and not necessarily sinful) for her stage in development. An infant who is [...]

Ignore Anger or Address It?

5th June 2008 | 3 Comments

I’ve heard conflicting advice from people I respect about responding to anger with infants. Sometimes you’re supposed to ignore it: if he’s throwing a fit to get attention, then that advice makes sense. Other times, you’re supposed to stop it. Obviously if he’s hurting himself or others, that’s a good approach. A good many times [...]

How to Find an Answer

4th June 2008 | 0 Comments

As I was thinking through the process of responding to anger in infants (a challenge I’m working through right now), I was reminded of the passages that talk about learning how to respond rightly to the situations I face each day. Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. Let your speech [...]

Postponement

3rd June 2008 | 0 Comments

Yesterday we went out to the welcoming ceremony for the new F-22s on our base, and I got a little too much desert sun. I’m feeling better today, but yesterday afternoon I didn’t do anything that required a lot of brain power, including finishing my post. I’ll post it tomorrow. In the meantime, read this [...]

Problem Solving: Picking Up Toys

2nd June 2008 | 0 Comments

A baby just learning to walk is old enough to dump out all the toys in the toy box, but getting him to pick them up might be another story. What is a mother to do? If you didn’t read the first problem solving post, you’ll find it helpful to read it first. First, let’s [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
