You're right Diane,

Reminding ourselves of God's care in our past also fits the pattern of Psalm 73. I'm reading through the old testament right now, and I am always struck by how often God tells the children of Israel to remember, not to forget. From my own experience, it's easy to forget.

When we first came to the desert, it was because of God's Providence and not our choice. When I look back and see how God has used this place and our church to make us more like Him, and how much we really enjoy it here, I am filled with gratitude, and not worry.

I need to remember more.

Thanks for this. I had "one of those nights" last night. Proverbs 3:21-26 is a blessing to me as well. And, there's some spiritual advice in the song from White Christmas (oddly enough): "When I'm worried, and I can't sleep, I count my blessings instead of sheep....when my bankroll is getting small, I remember when I had none at all...and I fall asleep, counting my blessings!" When we focus on God's care and provision in the past, much like David did in the Psalms, we are reminded that He is trustworthy with whatever is causing our anxiety.=)
