Complementarian/ Egalitarian

14th July 2008 | 0 Comments

David received some money for his birthday, and decided to purchase an airplane model. I took him to the model store in town, and started reading off all the plane titles and telling him which ones he could afford. After a short minute, I could sense his frustration. He didn’t want mom telling him what [...]

When Asking for Obedience Is Unwise

11th July 2008 | 0 Comments

One of the things my mom has said is that it is true you cannot force a horse to drink, but you can give him salt so he wants to drink. It would be lovely if I could simply tell my children what to do, and have them do it, all the time. But the [...]

Is It a Battle?

9th July 2008 | 9 Comments

I’ve heard various Christians react to the apparent conflict between shepherding a child, and winning the battles of authority. Regardless of how you want to label the conflict, I had a good experience this morning loving and caring for my twenty month old. She ran away with sister’s toy, and when I told her to [...]

Back Home

8th July 2008 | 3 Comments

We made it home tonight at a good hour. On our travels, I met Shelley for the first time and had a lovely visit (although probably about two hours too short! I was sad to say goodbye when we were just getting started.) We also stopped at Morning Star Baptist Church on our way out [...]

Reprint: Psalm 78

4th July 2008 | 3 Comments

The final vacation post from the archives. See you next week! I love this passage. The imagery of parents passing to their children a knowledge of God’s greatness and goodness is powerful. The problem is, it assumes that I am right with God, that I have a knowledge of God, that I am remembering God’s [...]

Distraction= Doing Nothing?

3rd July 2008 | 0 Comments

Another vacation post from several years back. David was three and Bethel was nearly two. A friend mentioned recently that she sometimes felt like distracting her young son (toddler) was neglecting to teach him/ discipline him. This statement got me thinking about this technique, since I too, have found that it is a very effective [...]

Reprint: Total Depravity of Toddlers

2nd July 2008 | 2 Comments

Since I’m on vacation, I’m taking a break from posting for the rest of the week. In the meantime, I’m going to repost a few articles from the archives. This post was first written several years ago when David was a toddler. I’d probably add to it now, but no time, no time today. I’m [...]

No Hugging?

1st July 2008 | 0 Comments

Since I’ve had several questions about this post, I decided to make some explanations a regular post. [The real reason is that I spent a lot of time on this topic, and I don't want to waste the energy, so to speak.] To clarify, I don’t at this point forbid our children from hugging family [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
