Thanking the Lord for Trouble

29th November 2008 | 3 Comments

How can anyone thank the Lord for difficult circumstances? By learning who God is. My father-in-law shared this passage, and it is a powerful testimony of how knowing God allows us to rejoice even when the flowers do not bloom. Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the [...]

Thanksgiving Meditation

26th November 2008 | 1 Comment

Last night I sat down to think about applying verses that talk about Thanksgiving. The first thing I did was remember some thankfulness verses. In everything give thanks… Enter into his gates with thanksgiving… Then I couldn’t remember any more. I knew I should have been able to remember far more, so I looked up [...]

Whose Spiritual Life Are We Talking About?

25th November 2008 | 0 Comments

Deuteronomy 6 starts out, not with how we teach our children, but how we teach ourselves. And even after the famous part about teaching children constantly, parents are commanded not to forget what God has done. It’s an encouraging thought to me right now that parenting is first about my walk with God. Am I [...]

We Pray Because…

24th November 2008 | 0 Comments

I faithfully asked my children why we pray for our food, as I mentioned in this last post. My children looked at me blankly. “The Bible says to?” asked Bethel after a long silence. “Very good! Can you tell me what the Bible says?” Nope. Still teaching, still repeating, still questioning. Enter into his gates [...]

Why Do We Pray for Our Food? Reprint

21st November 2008 | 1 Comment

I posted this about a year and a half ago. “Why” questions are good for me to initiate, because my kids tend to keep their questions inside. I’d like to deliberately think of some more questions along these lines. This one is a good question to ask, and I think I’ll ask it again, and [...]

“How Not to Raise a Pagan”

20th November 2008 | 0 Comments

I don’t normally include a lot of external links on this blog. One significant reason is that other than a handful of friends’ blogs, I don’t have much time to spend looking at and reading all the really great links out there. Tonight my dear husband is away at some training, and I was able [...]

Wisdom Wednesday

19th November 2008 | 0 Comments

The Story: [Jesus said] Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon [...]

Prayer for the Sleep-Deprived Mom, Reprint

18th November 2008 | 1 Comment

In honor of several friends with new babies, and several new internet friends with babies, I’m reposting this prayer. Hang in there! This week, I’m on a blog vacation, and am revisiting posts from my archive. Several of my friends have been struggling with getting enough sleep. Here is a prayer for them: Lord, Use [...]

The Center of My Life, Reprint

17th November 2008 | 0 Comments

I posted this a year and a half ago, and I’m convicted again by it. This week I’m taking a blog vacation and will be reposting a few lessons that are still relevant for me. I hope they’re a blessing! When my kids grow up, what will they say my life revolved around? The computer? [...]

Thanksgiving Plans

14th November 2008 | 1 Comment

Today I typed “thanksgiving” in the search box on top of my blog, because I wanted to know what I had written about thanksgiving. Here is what I found: Teaching Thankfulness Talking about Thankfulness Talking about Thanksgiving Thanksgiving Evaluation Last year I purchased a few books on Thanksgiving. The best by far is the one [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
