Obedience, Again and Again

13th January 2009 | 4 Comments

It’s not just because Lee is gone, because I noticed before he left, that all three children need some attention in the obedience category. This is something I’m praying that the Lord will help me work on in the next few weeks and months. Now, some parents believe if I were a perfect parent and [...]

If You Know All the Reasons, It’s Not Faith

12th January 2009 | 1 Comment

Yesterday Bethel wanted to bring a book in the car on the way to church. I told her no, and she started to cry. Now, our evening services are early, so they basically have to wake up a little earlier and faster than they would with a later service. I say this because sometimes Bethel [...]

Waiting with Joyfulness

9th January 2009 | 0 Comments

This morning I was expecting a phone call. Lee is about fourteen hours ahead of me, so last I had heard he had a full day with nothing scheduled. Surely he would have sent an email or been able to call. As the morning passed, I sat by the computer in case he might call. [...]

Avoiding Pain

8th January 2009 | 0 Comments

Last night instead of blogging, I did some proofreading for my mom. I loved the article/ handout she is doing, and so instead of posting my thoughts, I’m including some of hers! David was not a casual believer, but one who interacted with God on a daily basis and grew in his understanding of who [...]

Serving with Gladness

7th January 2009 | 1 Comment

Last week and this week, the kids and I have talked several times about the phrase in Psalm 100: Serve the Lord with gladness. Applications keep brimming over. For the children, we’ve talked about it in context of a right response instead of complaining about chores. We discussed that sometimes, serving God can be inconvenient [...]

Silver Linings

6th January 2009 | 0 Comments

Would you believe that God put in our church a Christian Iraqi man? What are the odds of that, in our little town in the middle of nowhere? How good is God?  Providing a family whose Christian heritage in Iraq goes back many generations? God always seems to provide gentle reminders of his lovingkindness when [...]

Thoughts on Deployment

5th January 2009 | 2 Comments

Lee leaves tomorrow for his six month deployment. I have a few more thoughts. First, our church body isn’t a military church, so they don’t have much experience with deployments. But they are believers, and they take seriously God’s commands to lift each other up practically and spiritually. I plan to visit my parents, but [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
