A Steward of Intelligence

31st March 2009 | 2 Comments

Today in school, we worked on math. David was doing the simple addition problems in his head, and I remarked that I knew a child several years older than he who couldn’t do those problems at all. David remarked that this was terrible, and I responded, “Not really. God didn’t give him the ability to [...]

When Praying Isn't Enough

30th March 2009 | 2 Comments

Today I was praying that God would give me wisdom, that I would know what I’m doing wrong in a few situations (because I’m feeling woefully clueless). Then it hit me that I can pray to be a good mom, but if I’m not willing to act on what he’s already told me to do [...]

Nighttime Stress

25th March 2009 | 2 Comments

I’ve been sleeping with all three children in my room. Tom and Martha have been here this month and as they left my Uncle came to do some remodeling for my parents. The playroom is now empty, so perhaps we’ll use the playroom as their bedroom (the idea of carrying Laurel up and down the [...]

Poor Laurel

24th March 2009 | 7 Comments

On Saturday Laurel fell off a tall slide ladder and broke her left arm and leg. They weren’t severe breaks, and she’s not in a lot of pain, but the cast and sling are uncomfortable. We’ve managed to keep her occupied with playdough and other amusements, but she does make a pretty sad sight. Last [...]

Why Do I Have to Take a Nap?

18th March 2009 | 2 Comments

Yesterday, Bethel wanted to know why she had to take a nap. I told her she needed one. End of discussion. Not really. Actually, I explained that Bethel needs naps because sleep is a gift from God that will help her do right. I told her that as she was at that moment, she was [...]

What’s Wrong with “I Forgot”

16th March 2009 | 1 Comment

But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. But he who [...]

Comparing Epiphany

9th March 2009 | 1 Comment

I’ve had a delightful visit with Lee’s brother’s family this week (with the exception of Laurel’s ear infection). My sister-in-law is a pastor’s wife who manages much of the music at her church, keeps her house clean, homeschools her oldest and keeps her children looking great even when they’re playing in dirt. There is much [...]

Recurring Challenges

6th March 2009 | 1 Comment

I’m currently in California enjoying a visit with family. The theory is that I’ll have more time to blog while I’m here. For a light and painless post, I’d like to consider all the challenges that I used to think were tackle-once jobs. Instead, I find myself dealing with them in cycles: challenge, meet the [...]

How Have I Wearied You?

2nd March 2009 | 0 Comments

I’ve been pretty hesitant to say that the children are more emotional than normal, but I finally agreed with myself that they are. Some of the emotion is from fatigue. Company is fun but uses a lot of energy. (even family where I can truly be myself and not feel like I have to entertain [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
