Bringing the Gospel to Our Children

27th April 2009 | 3 Comments

My dad and I got into a recent discussion about the covenant theologian’s approach to children’s salvation. I’m not ready to blog about how I differ from this approach, but I did find an excellent, if not seemingly atypical article from a covenant theologian perspective. It has a number of excellent thoughts on teaching children [...]

Defining Tattletale

21st April 2009 | 3 Comments

The tattletale has finally come into my radar. I’m surprised to find out that I’ve mentioned it only three times in the last few years. For the last four years, I have WANTED my little ones to come to me with offenses. They had no problem solving skills to start with, and the only way [...]

20 Ways to Help Children Be Givers– Reprint

20th April 2009 | 2 Comments

I found this post in the archives, and I decided I needed to think through it again. I’m thinking now that also I need to be brainstorming ways for me to give as I desire to love my husband from afar. My friend Kelly and sat drinking coffee a few weeks ago and started swapping [...]

Are You Happy?

17th April 2009 | 4 Comments

I’ve forgotten to mention something we’ve talked about recently with our children at odd moments when talking about selfishness and anger. It’s a response that even Laurel (age 2) can understand. “Are you happy right now?” I’ve found that, unlike other probing questions I might try, this question they understand and know the answer for. [...]

When Do You Pray?

13th April 2009 | 3 Comments

When do you pray for your children’s future? Do you have a disciplined regular time? Do you pray for them when they obey, are unselfish and kind? singulair I find I pray when they’re being bad and I’m wondering what the future may hold for them. I’m not disciplined about praying for my children like [...]

Laughing at Discipline

13th April 2009 | 4 Comments

I’ve noticed sometimes when Bethel is in trouble, she starts to laugh. Sometimes, for example, she has laughed when I’m telling her that what she’s doing makes her mommy sad, and God sad. This is somewhat disconcerting. My first reaction is irritation. It’s obviously rebellious behavior, right? I’ve responded somewhat harshly, “This is not funny. [...]

Animal Hospital

9th April 2009 | 0 Comments

Last week I took Laurel to the orthopedist, who confirmed the broken arm, and denied the broken leg. So the leg splint was taken off, and Laurel given permission to walk (but not climb, swing, jump, etc.). That’s been good news, and it’s been a lot easier to keep everyone busy and happy. I also [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
