Would a Good Mom Refuse?

29th June 2009 | 0 Comments

This month, David’s cousins brought him a pregnant lizard. We set up the terrarium, and this weekend, she laid five eggs (that may or may not be viable). Then last week David found a dead bird, and he wanted to examine it. He got a pair of latex gloves, and spent nearly 45 minutes studying [...]

Good Mom = Godly Mom?

28th June 2009 | 0 Comments

We all want to be good moms. You know what good moms are like, don’t you? Good moms make all their perfectly balanced meals from scratch, plan exciting activities for their children, have an organized chore schedule in place that works well, and never raise their voices. You get the idea, right? But a good [...]

Lunch Proverbs

25th June 2009 | 0 Comments

I got behind on my chronological Bible reading. This morning I started to catch up, and read a number of chapters in Proverbs. I love this book. It reminds me of what I should love: humility, discretion, diligence, wisdom. As I read I feel like a kid in a candy store, “Ooo, I want that. [...]

When They Can’t Make it Right

24th June 2009 | 0 Comments

This week Bethel was tussling with David over his helium balloon and popped it. Time stopped. David wailed. I was fascinated to watch Bethel’s response. At first, she didn’t do anything. I’ve found that sometimes kids don’t know what to say when something bad happens, so I started giving her words to say. Tell David [...]

Lessons from Deployment

22nd June 2009 | 0 Comments

I’m just a few weeks away from seeing the blessed end of my husband’s deployment. Now it feels close (2 months ago, it felt as much as when he first left). But it also seems like the hardest part. Be not weary in well doing, for we shall reap in due season if we faint [...]

Modesty at Graduation

22nd June 2009 | 0 Comments

I’m always interested in non-clothing examples of immodesty, and this might be a good one. At a school in Maine this year, students who engaged in attention-getting behaviors were denied their diplomas. They were warned ahead of time, apparently, perhaps making this situation at its heart not about modesty, but about submission to authority (as [...]

You Know You’re Tired…

18th June 2009 | 2 Comments

You know you’re tired when you click on your website, wondering if there’s a new post. Today David turned six. Had a good day. Still have half a cheesecake left that I’ll probably freeze and save for later. The sink is clean. Floor needs cleaning desperately. I’m leaving the balloons and streamers up. You might [...]

When Standing for Principle Might not Be Best

16th June 2009 | 1 Comment

I was blindsided. Laurel has not been attached to a blanket for months. She has a fuzzy blanket that she has used in the past, but she hasn’t used it in several weeks, and has never appeared emotionally attached to the blanket. When Laurel and Bethel asked for a blanket, I first suggested the fuzzy [...]

Walking in the Spirit

16th June 2009 | 0 Comments

For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another. For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye [...]

What if the Outcome is Bad?

14th June 2009 | 1 Comment

Lee and I had a long discussion a few days ago. A little while ago, he had a young patient die. After he gave the orders to stop medical intervention, he prayed beside the bed of this child.  One of the things he said was “Thank you for allowing us to serve you in life. [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
