Mothering Laws I’ve Broken

  1. Thou shalt not wake up children from their naps on Sunday afternoon.
  2. Thou shalt never demand feed your baby. Wait three hours or more, never fewer.
  3. Do not leave your baby sleeping if she has a wet diaper.
  4. Do not use suckers to keep children quiet. A calm instruction should be sufficient.
  5. Do not use television as a babysitter.
  6. Do not use time out.
  7. Do not say “Because I said so” when asked why.
  8. Do not use cans that go pop.

I think I can keep going. Maybe I’ll write more later, but since Lee is home today (because he was on call last week), I’m going to sign off and spend the time with family.

  • Glad I’m not the only one who has broken these laws! :)

  • Hmmm…the only one I refuse to do is #1…and that’s purely for selfish reasons! :P

  • Why should you wake a sleeping baby to change it’s diaper? I’m curious because diapers are so absorbent these days that it is designed to “pull the wetness” away from the baby.

3.Do not leave your baby sleeping if she has a wet diaper.

And “someone” told me this one was o.k.especially if they were someone else’s children….

  • Brand new mothers are told to count their baby’s wet diaper to know if they’re getting enough milk. I knew several mothers who had continued to do this even when there was no longer a concern. It’s a good example of how a good thing can become mindless and unnecessary if we’re not careful. And suckers… I always bring extra suckers on airplanes to hand out. ;) Love suckers.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
