Stopping the Whining

3rd November 2009 | 0 Comments

Whining seems to come up a lot at our house. I’ve blogged before about whining. We’ve dealt with it before. We still deal with it, as it seems to come and go in cycles. We’ve talked about unbelief (e.g., the children of Israel murmuring in the wilderness), and attempted to get them to replace the [...]

Influences of Media

29th October 2009 | 5 Comments

I grew up in a godly, fundamentalist home. I thought all fundamentalist homes were like mine, with parents who loved God’s Word and had good reasons for the things we did and didn’t do. But not everyone liked the choices they made, and they were sometimes ridiculed for them. One of the things my mom [...]

Chief Adviser to God

27th October 2009 | 2 Comments

In the military, life takes twists and turns, but I’ve often admired myself for being so willing to go wherever God sends us. [Warning! Warning!] I would not dream of telling God where we should go, [Warning! Warning!] especially since NM was not even on our dream sheet but was obviously God’s plan for us. [...]

When I Am Afraid…

23rd October 2009 | 3 Comments

Last night I awoke in a foggy blur to a little voice calling my name. At my side was Bethel, saying, “I was afraid you were not back yet.” I assured her that we had gotten back from our date soon after they were asleep, gave her a hug and kiss, and then asked her [...]

Teaching Purity to Little Boys

21st October 2009 | 2 Comments

Yesterday I opened up Proverbs 5 and read it for breakfast. [long pause] Yes, that’s the chapter about the immoral woman. Last week when we were at the thrift store looking for books, David and Bethel were excited to find some birding magazines. One of them was a Smithsonian, and although I glanced at it [...]

Teaching Little Ones to Share

9th October 2009 | 1 Comment

I had a friend think through with me the process of teaching a young child to share, and addressing the biblical concepts of covetousness and giving. It was encouraging, because I realized that I have seen a lot of growth in this area from my children. The discussion was also challenging, because it reminded me [...]

Housecleaning Lessons

7th October 2009 | 3 Comments

Last week a lady in our church asked if I would be willing to have housecleaning lessons. I’ve shared in some small groups the spiritual struggle I have with my flesh over this, and she wondered whether I was open to some help. She came over yesterday and we talked through my week of days. [...]

Flexibility and Motherhood

6th October 2009 | 1 Comment

This morning, the children are are grouchy. That’s because Lee has a military function this week where he has to work late. I tried to hold the children off until 7:00, but I ended up feeding them partially at 6:45. They wanted to save some of their dinner for when dad came home, but they [...]

Overwhelmed with Parenting?

5th October 2009 | 4 Comments

We started going through Parenting with Wisdom again. Love it. Challenged by it. Hopeful because of God’s Word. ??????? ????? ????????? You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. [...]

Who Is Like Our God?

30th September 2009 | 0 Comments

Because we live in a rural area, we see and talk about the sun, moon, and stars quite a bit. We’ve been known to stop our car on the way home from somewhere so we can watch the moonrise over the mountains. We have beautiful sunsets that we see each night when we eat dinner. [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
