Note to Self: Stop Complaining

31st March 2010 | 4 Comments

I’ve been working on applying two Scriptures this week. First, I’ve been working on being a good steward of the time God has given me. We’ve been talking about money, and how important it is to be a good steward of it. But I’ve also been given a great deal of time. Am I being [...]

Three Most Important Money Goals

30th March 2010 | 0 Comments

One of the problems I sense with parents wanting to teach children about money is that we want to cram years worth of lessons into a few weeks. We’re not really good at understanding that children don’t work that way. Today I want to consider how much information is enough for my children to know [...]

Are We Rich?

25th March 2010 | 3 Comments

Awhile ago, a mentor of my husband’s related a story in which his teenaged daughter told a friend “We can’t afford that.” This doctor was pleased that his daughter, not having an entitlement attitude common among wealthy young people, truly thought herself poor, even though the family was substantially well off. I’ve been mulling that [...]

Grandma Bessie Plates

23rd March 2010 | 0 Comments

In my house on my wall, I have several plates that were painted by my Great Grandma Bessie. I regularly use a beautiful tea set she painted for me when I was a small child, intending it for my wedding present. Grandma Bessie and Grandpa Quincy were just laypeople in the church, but theirs was [...]

Saying Goodbye

22nd March 2010 | 0 Comments

The other day, we had a tearful moment when David realized we’ll be in Texas for his friend Elia’s birthday. When we told him that we probably would be unable to drive him nine hours to New Mexico for the event, he was grief stricken. The last move wasn’t too difficult. David and Bethel were [...]

Pardon?

18th March 2010 | 5 Comments

What do you have your children say when they don’t hear you? Is this something regional? In the south, children are taught to say “Ma’am?” or “Sir?” when something needs to be repeated or clarified. Other people say “Pardon?” or “Excuse me?” As a child, I always felt silly saying “Pardon?” like other people, because [...]

Teaching the Children

17th March 2010 | 0 Comments

Today I asked my children what they worried about. I didn’t get very far. Before long, I realized I was teaching the children myself a needed lesson. I told them myself about what worry is and what God says about it. We talked about the things people can worry about: when we say something and [...]

Damage Control

16th March 2010 | 0 Comments

We’ve been trying to teach our children what to do when they bump into someone or hurt someone inadvertently. Often, they just act oblivious, even though sometimes it seems improbable that they don’t realize they’ve done damage. We are acting on the basis that they sometimes really do realize they have hurt or bothered someone [...]

Cold Coffee and Short Fellowship

15th March 2010 | 0 Comments

Well, we survived and enjoyed a trip to San Diego (Lee had a pediatric conference, and we went with him), and then we all took a three day off-roading trip along the Mojave Trail with my family. It was a valuable time for the cousins to all spend time with my dad especially, and I’m [...]

Wiping Yet Another Snotty Nose

Then shall the King say unto them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
