Searching for the Perfect Children

29th September 2010 | 2 Comments

I do not have perfect children. I’m trying to teach my five year old to sweep. After she has swept the dining room, I check it. Most of the time I get a full dust pan and wonder what she got in her dust pan. I also wonder whether it’s worth it to walk with [...]

Perfect Moms with Perfect Children

27th September 2010 | 0 Comments

We do know that we cannot be a perfect mom, right? If we could be supermom, we wouldn’t need God’s grace and mercy, would we? If Ted Tripp could tell us what to do in every circumstance, then we wouldn’t be on our knees pleading with God to give us wisdom (and rejoicing with exuberance [...]

It’s Wisdom Wednesday, and I’m asking myself how Scripture has been changing me this week. [crickets chirping] [sigh] This week hasn’t been the greatest for spending time with God. But I have some quiet time now before the children get up. I’m calling off most schoolwork for the rest of the week to catch up [...]

Frogs or Doilies?

13th September 2010 | 2 Comments

I can’t solve the gender discussions of the world. I won’t even try, but I will talk about some of the things I’ve been wrestling with. First, it doesn’t really bother me THAT culture seems to inform our understanding of biblical femininity or masculinity. This seems logical and reasonable, and quite consistent with biblical principles [...]

You Can’t Do Everything

9th September 2010 | 0 Comments

I haven’t forgotten about talking about masculinity and femininity, but this post is tangentially related. And that post should come tomorrow. Maybe. I need a date with my husband and that isn’t forthcoming until next week. One of the great things about living in a rural area was that many of my priorities were determined [...]

Overcoming Nightmares

8th September 2010 | 5 Comments

I have been blessed with a daughter who has a vivid imagination. We keep a bathroom light on all night, and we have night lights in every room of the lights (I have a husband who thinks lights are cool). Still, on occasion she wakes us up because she has had a nightmare. Last night [...]

Crying over the Cereal Bowl

1st September 2010 | 0 Comments

It’s Wisdom Wednesday This week I have made good on my intention to help walk my children through applying Scripture. Today I’m writing about one of those times. For background, my three year old is still excessively emotional, easily angered, and cries and whines when she doesn’t get her way. The hard part isn’t stopping [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
