Teaching Corporate Worship

9th May 2011 | 1 Comment

I mentioned last week that our discussions on Psalm 119 have given me an opportunity to talk about corporate worship. Specifically, we have discussed what it means to read the Bible together and pray together. Corporate Reading David and Bethel can read well enough to take turns reading verses, but when they’re not reading, it’s [...]

Receiving Teasing in Love

3rd May 2011 | 1 Comment

It would be easy for a mother who discourages all manner of teasing, who rarely teases her children, and who disciplines for unkind teasing, to create an atmosphere of hyper-sensitivity toward inevitable teasing. I’ve seen children who instantly melt under any teasing. They take offense quickly, and assume that all teasing is mean-spirited. I’ve seen [...]

Another Way to Fight Fear

24th March 2011 | 1 Comment

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, [...]

Smiling at the Future

21st March 2011 | 2 Comments

When I was a little girl, I listened to a sermon for children on being content. One of the illustrations was a simple story of a little girl who spent her life wishing she was a little older. When she was a grown up, she realized that she had wished her life away. This illustration [...]

No Good Thing

14th March 2011 | 2 Comments

I feel a little silly about writing this post. How many times have I thought, “We have conquered this!” only to find that… um.. well… we haven’t.  You probably think I’m a crazy mother for still needing to deal with this issue, and you know what I’m talking about, right? I’m talking about whining and [...]

Auditory Learners and the Bible

11th March 2011 | 1 Comment

One of the things my mom talks about is the need for parents to think ahead to the skills and knowledge their children will need. Although no parent can see the future, parents do have insight into their child’s personality, strengths and weaknesses, interests, and can make some educated guesses about what their child needs [...]

Defining Bitterness for a Child

25th February 2011 | 2 Comments

I’ve been thinking about when Anger becomes Bitterness, and whether it’s useful to define it for a child. Since I’ve been talking with my four year old about anger and not getting her way, I’ve been prompted to look a little more closely into God’s Words and Ways. This is a project for the next [...]

The Blessing of Empty Arms

24th February 2011 | 4 Comments

I’ve talked before about the emotional tug I feel at times when a cute little baby is being passed around at social functions. What to do with that emotion? I’m coming to the realization of how I can be a blessing to mothers who are in that crazy time of life when they’re not getting [...]

When Mommy Is Talking

17th February 2011 | 5 Comments

Stand up straight. Don’t stick your tongue out. Don’t cross your eyes. Look at Mommy. Keep looking at Mommy. Don’t roll your head around. Good.

Loving Others

If you tell a mother of an infant under one that it’s not biblical to be child-centered, she might look at you in disbelief and perhaps amusement instead of reverent awe. Not child centered? Her very waking hours are determined by her child’s wake/sleep cycle. Her biggest spiritual challenge in life might be at that [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
