Somebody Is Bullying My Child: Part 1

15th October 2007 | 0 Comments

This morning we went to storytime at the library on our air force base. Both David and Bethel were listening well, but just as the story was starting to wind down, several of the children became fidgety, and one little boy started to poke Bethel. She told him to stop (quietly [shock], probably too quietly [...]

Foiled Again

7th August 2007 | 0 Comments

Awhile back, I was so pleased because I found a way to help my children play together better. When one wanted an item the other had, I suggested they ask to play with it when the other child was done, instead of asking for it directly. Can I play with that when you are done? [...]

Me-First Syndrome

3rd August 2007 | 2 Comments

This morning, David and Bethel were at odds. As I was trying to sort out the problem, the situation, shall we say degenerated. I realized that part of the problem in this context (and now that I think of it, fairly often) was a desire to be first. One child was using the stool to [...]

Learning Humility

25th July 2007 | 3 Comments

This morning, David wanted to play catch, so I went outside and we played, first with a frisbee and then with a bumpy football. The football is supposed to be easier to catch and throw. You’re not very good at throwing the ball, Mommy. I checked my inclination to object to the comment, first because [...]

Breakfast Transparency

Psalm 78:4 We will not hide them from their children, Telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, And His strength and His wonderful works that He has done. While we shouldn’t display empty ritual for the purpose of showing our children how spiritual we are, there is a sense where it [...]

Mom the Pharisee

4th April 2007 | 0 Comments

Awhile ago I asked my husband for advice. I was finally getting up just a few minutes before my children were, and there wasn’t enough time to blog and do my devotions. I was working on the computer first, since I’d rather my children see me reading my Bible than do the computer. Trouble was, [...]

Preferring One Another

20th March 2007 | 0 Comments

I guess I did say something spiritual yesterday, and what’s more, David remembered! Yesterday, David said at breakfast, “Serve me first!” I told him that God wants us to serve others first. (In retrospect, I probably should have asked a question instead of lecturing…) This morning, I came to the table and David informed me [...]

Humility and Thankfulness

8th March 2007 | 0 Comments

In Romans 1, there’s a description of a rebel against God. In the midst of a truly terrible picture, one phrase seems out of place, apparently benign in comparison to the rest of the description. This arrogant rebel is unthankful. Unthankfulness is more than simply poor manners. It is a symptom of the pride that [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
