Can I Be Mary and Martha?

3rd June 2009 | 1 Comment

Can I be both Mary and Martha at the same time? I’ve been diligent this week. My closet is clean, the yard is looking great, I’ve been getting rid of clutter. I’ve even had time to get out my cookbooks (if you know me, that’s a good sign that ducks are getting in a row). [...]

Longing for Jesus

5th May 2009 | 0 Comments

Ive been studying contentment the last few weeks. Last week I had the opportunity to read my Bible in my mom’s rose garden. I’m ashamed that I haven’t done it up til now, because the roses (250 of them) are gorgeous and sitting out there really is conducive to thinking spiritual thoughts. But I read [...]

Comparing Epiphany

9th March 2009 | 1 Comment

I’ve had a delightful visit with Lee’s brother’s family this week (with the exception of Laurel’s ear infection). My sister-in-law is a pastor’s wife who manages much of the music at her church, keeps her house clean, homeschools her oldest and keeps her children looking great even when they’re playing in dirt. There is much [...]

How Have I Wearied You?

2nd March 2009 | 0 Comments

I’ve been pretty hesitant to say that the children are more emotional than normal, but I finally agreed with myself that they are. Some of the emotion is from fatigue. Company is fun but uses a lot of energy. (even family where I can truly be myself and not feel like I have to entertain [...]

Faithful Creator

26th February 2009 | 0 Comments

Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator. I Peter 4:19 Now, few of us really suffer like the early Christians suffered, but we all carry burdens of some sort. (Paul called them “light afflictions”.) Let’s not quibble about [...]

The Sacrifice of Righteousness

11th February 2009 | 1 Comment

Thank you for your prayers and notes. Although I’ve been absent, I’m feeling better. Hopefully I’ll soon answer all my emails. I’ve been able to talk with Lee regularly, and that’s helpful. Most important, I’ve been able to sit down and spend time in God’s Word. I haven’t caught up in the chronological Bible reading, [...]

When Should I Preach?

27th January 2009 | 2 Comments

I meant to post this yesterday, but about the time I finished it, my computer crashed and I lost most of my work. Maybe it is better than it would have been had I posted it earlier. One of the topics I like to think about is when to teach. Now, my mom made a [...]

Resolutions

14th January 2009 | 2 Comments

This isn’t exactly a good Wisdom Wednesday, but it will have to suffice. This week I’ve been reading passages on anger, anxiety, self discipline, and just last night, contentment. All the Scripture has been good for me to think about. One statement that was particularly thought-provoking was this one: If I become content by having [...]

What’s the Bible Word for Goals?

31st December 2008 | 0 Comments

Yesterday afternoon I started to think about what the Bible has to say about goal setting. I searched for plan in Bible Gateway. No returns.  Goal. Not there, either. I’m most comfortable with the King James Version, so that’s how I search, but I then remembered the ESV does have a word translated goal. I [...]

Did I Forget All My Goals?

30th December 2008 | 0 Comments

I thought for sure I had written about goals for this last year, but I cannot find them written down anywhere. I did a search for goals and resolutions, and nothing showed up, either. The one goal I’ve been working on is the chronological Bible reading plan. And on that goal, I did… okay. I [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
