One child saying to a friend, “Let’s go away. We HATE him. [about another child]” Putting off making phone calls to friends yet another week. So long that now she’s embarrassed to call. One child trying to discern how appropriate a request is before obeying.Trying to figure out the future before she stops worrying about [...]

How to Start Fighting Fear

23rd March 2011 | 0 Comments

The Lord by wisdom hath founded the earth; by understanding hath he established the heavens. By his knowledge the depths are broken up, and the clouds drop down the dew. My son, let not them depart from thine eyes: keep sound wisdom and discretion: So shall they be life unto thy soul, and grace to [...]

Wisdom and Mentors

8th March 2011 | 2 Comments

It’s been a joy to be in a church where so many of the older women have a burden for mentorship, and are actively seeking to teach the younger women God’s Word. I’ve also watched as young women show humility in their desire to learn from the older women. This is good, and I’ve been [...]

Learning to Be Wise, Continued

7th March 2011 | 1 Comment

From Friday’s Post: Michelle finally stops waiting for wisdom and determines to  do the best she knows how. Turns out her decision was fine, but Michelle is now confused. Did God neglect his promise to give wisdom? Is wisdom the same as knowing beyond a shadow of a doubt what to do in a certain [...]

Learning to Be Wise

4th March 2011 | 1 Comment

Have you ever gotten excited about finding wisdom, and then got discouraged when you realized how many questions you had that didn’t seem to have an answer? I have. More than once! Here’s what it might look like: New mother Michelle wanders aimlessly through Proverbs during her Bible reading, at times being challenged, but not [...]

Love Gives

16th February 2011 | 0 Comments

Wednesday is the day I challenge myself to think about what I’m doing differently this week because of what I’m reading or meditating on. Since the application of Scripture is how Jesus defines wisdom, I call this day Wisdom Wednesday. The scripture that has been driving me to action this week is I Corinthians 13, [...]

Love Gives, Kind Of

15th February 2011 | 0 Comments

I’ve been pondering this passage as it relates to love and serving our children. We then who are strong ought to bear with the scruples of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 2 Let each of us please his neighbor for his good, leading to edification. 3 For even Christ did not please Himself; [...]

How Do You Do That?

9th February 2011 | 0 Comments

Lately I’ve been thinking about how I teach my children to actually use the Scripture they’ve been memorizing. So I’ve been asking a lot, “How do you do that?” For example, Laurel was devastated when I told her she could not use some particular markers at a particular time. Since I was working on a [...]

When You Don’t Know What to Do

1st February 2011 | 6 Comments

One of the really awesome things about God is that He doesn’t expect us to know it all. I have been contemplating this week the ministry of the Holy Spirit when we see a problem, but don’t know what to do about it. We pray. We do pray, don’t we? Yes, but sometimes we don’t [...]

Child-Centered or Sacrifical Love?

19th January 2011 | 5 Comments

There’s a fascinating balance that we find in Scripture. On one hand, we learn about self-sacrificial love from Jesus Christ. In fact, this is the way we can begin to fathom God’s definition of love. Jesus gave us an example, that we should love others. On the other hand, we recognize that it’s a bad [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
