Paying Attention in Church

30th November 2007 | 0 Comments

Making the Cross-Country drive was not as painful as it has been in times past. I have a few fairly short audio stories I’ve been saving for a trip, and Lee and I were both surprised at David’s ability to follow along. This is a new development. He still kept asking for clarification, but he [...]

Chaos in the Car and Grocery Store

20th October 2007 | 3 Comments

Today at the grocery store, both my older children kept touching food (e.g., dropping expensive peaches and pinching holes in ground beef packages), whining about something or another, and asking for food items. My youngest kept standing in the seat and crying when she was buckled in. At the checkout, I was embarrassed because I [...]

Giving Up My Rights

17th October 2007 | 5 Comments

Thinking about rights and bullies has started me inspecting my own life, and how often I help my children learn humility in this area. I think perhaps they do better than I do. In some areas, I think I’ve got this under control; in other areas, I think I could use more work. I’m most [...]

Somebody Is Bullying My Child: Part 2

16th October 2007 | 5 Comments

Yesterday I mentioned I wasn’t happy with how I responded to a child who was bothering my daughter during storytime. Here is what I did: I quickly walked over to them, pulled his hand off my daughter, and said, “She asked you to stop poking her. Stop poking.” He got the message. Afterwards, I finally [...]

Somebody Is Bullying My Child: Part 1

15th October 2007 | 0 Comments

This morning we went to storytime at the library on our air force base. Both David and Bethel were listening well, but just as the story was starting to wind down, several of the children became fidgety, and one little boy started to poke Bethel. She told him to stop (quietly [shock], probably too quietly [...]

Heading Home

15th June 2007 | 2 Comments

Lee comes home tomorrow, so we’re on our way home today. I’m leaving some things I brought so I’ll only have one suitcase (plus the children’s small suitcases). I have yet to close the lid, so that should be a challenge. The children have done great, but I think they all are looking forward to [...]

The Lord Is My Shepherd

6th June 2007 | 3 Comments

Discipline your children right, we are told, and when they go out in public they will behave properly. I hope this was the product of someone who had forgotten about infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. Maybe it’s because their dad is gone, maybe it’s because their sleep schedule has been somewhat erratic, but the kids have [...]

Dependence

2nd June 2007 | 0 Comments

We depend on God for our very breath, and yet we really don’t always live like it. Lee’s commander gave him permission to take me to the airport (his team was supposed to travel together to the airport, no exceptions). As I left Lee with David and Laurel to change Bethel in the bathroom, I [...]

Busy Day

31st May 2007 | 1 Comment

Today will be a busy day. I have a number of errands to run before we fly out tomorrow, and I still need to finish cleaning my house. I’ve noticed during these fairly high stress times that my own kids can mirror my own tension. I need to remember that sometimes instead of pushing them [...]

Back Home, and Catching Up

7th May 2007 | 0 Comments

We got back early Saturday night from our St. Louis trip. It’s great to be home. The kids survived the trip. I picked up some magic picture books, some Model Magic clay, and some stickers and notebooks. Between those things, books and toys we had already, and food, they did okay. We also stopped at [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
