A Motivation Challenge

24th May 2006 | 0 Comments

I’ve been thinking through a recent motivation challenge with our three year old. David has been given a number of really cool t-shirts. Sometimes when we’re putting away laundry, he sees a shirt he would rather wear than the shirt he chose for that morning. I’ve never allowed him to change, telling him instead he [...]

I Found What Motivates

15th May 2006 | 0 Comments

David has been going potty for all his toileting needs for the last several days, with a few “age-appropriate” lapses. I believe we have reached a tentative milestone. What made the difference? I don’t think it was maturity. I don’t think it was a new desire for the diecast airplanes Grandma bought him for each [...]

Some success!

After our long time spent on the potty, David woke up from his nap and after a few more tears, sat on the potty and tried. Nothing came out, but I was happy because he obeyed. (I never asked him to poop; only to try.) Tthe next morning and told me he wanted to try [...]

Potty Training Stubbornness

1st May 2006 | 0 Comments

First the good news: David is peeing regularly without any lapses. He’s been getting more than his share of sweets, but I just reduced the reward to a few skittles, and he’s still doing just fine. Second, the background. I’ve never tried to make David go poop. I’ve made him try once (about six months [...]

Encouragement for the Potty Trainers

26th April 2006 | 0 Comments

Lee kindly brought home an article on potty training an older child. The advice wasn’t helpful at all, since pottytraining isn’t a power struggle for David as far as I can tell. And I don’t coddle him when I change his messy underwear. He just doesn’t care. What was encouraging was this statement “A child [...]

Prayer for the Potty Training Mother

Here it is: “Help the mommy to see evidence that the child is about to poop.” Today after catching David before an , inspecting a large specimen spin away, and later rejoicing in the two-candy award, I asked David, “It’s a lot more fun to poop in the toilet, isn’t it?” My dear son replies, [...]

I hope you have enjoyed reading my blog, but my greatest desire for my audience is that they would be inspired and motivated to search the scriptures for themselves. God promises to give wisdom to any believer who searches for it His way. Here are some Bible study links I have found of interest and help.

Chronological Bible: ESV

Read the Bible chronologically. The first time I read through the Bible in the order everything happened, I learned so much and gained an incredible understanding of the big picture of Scripture. If you've never done it, you should!

Bible Gateway

From this website you can search for scriptures in a number of versions and languages by key words, phrases, or references. I use this website often when I post Scripture on my blog, so then I don't have to worry about typing in the verse accurately.

Treasury of Scripture Knowledge

This is a fantastic online version of a classic reference tool. Basically this is a list of cross references based on particular passages. Simply click on the verse or passage you are studying, and you will find other references to other relevant Scripture.

Bible Commentaries Online

A list of classic Bible commentaries. Sometimes they're hard to understand, but they can be helpful when you're wanting more insight into a passage you are studying.

More Bible Study Resources

This is a page of links for articles and audio on the topic of studying the Bible. Some are not easy to read, but they are helpful.
The rest of this website has a tremendous amount of resources that may be of interest.
