A short passage for wisdom Wednesday, but one that made me smile today and take heart.
Isaiah 40:11 (I love Isaiah 40)
He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
I cherish knowing that God deliberately and specifically portrays himself as a shepherd gently leading those with young– those of his sheep who move a little more slowly, or have more cares than the rest of the flock– this is a picture that is important to remember. You see, I am one of those sheep.
This imagery also helps me to be more patient when my own children wake me up an hour, and a half hour before I’m supposed to wake up [gather the lambs in my arms], when they childishly give up on the task I’ve given them, when I see their immature sinfulness. Gently lead. Already this morning, I’ve been challenged to gently lead, even as I am led.
How is Scripture encouraging you this morning?

This was a visual image I needed. Thanks!
