Life has been busy, busy enough to crowd out blogging, to some extent.
That’s a good thing. It reminds me of what is really important in my life.
This week I’ve had some ministry opportunities, and I’ve thought little about parenting.
On Tuesdays I teach a music class for babies. That’s just another fancy way of saying I have extra motivation to clean my house and I have an organized playtime as a bonus.
On Thursdays I teach a Bible study. We had been doing my mom’s parenting book, but we just started the Happily Married book in the same series. I’m excited about the challenge of this book, and resisting the urge to start blogging on this topic, too. I know that marriage is tangentially related to parenting, but I’m trying to be more focused.
Yesterday afternoon we had a candy class. This has been a fun project. Another young married gal in our church who likes to cook invites teenagers and college age girls over to my big kitchen, and we teach them candy making. It provides a terrific time to get to know the girls and talk about spiritual things. This time, we made caramel, candied pecans, suckers, marshmallows (toasted coconut and orange).
About once a week we have an elderly lady come over for lunch.
This week we’ve had the opportunity to talk about spiritual things with several girls and ladies. I’m excited because I’ve been primarily focused on babies for the last few years, and had little time for extras. And some of my ideas have been good friendship building opportunities, but have not led to many conversations about spiritual things. I’ve been hoping (and praying) for more opportunities to explain how the gospel has changed me.
I should be backwith normal blogging next week. I’ve enjoyed all your comments. Hopefully this evening I’ll have an opportunity to respond to them!
