Yesterday, David asked “Are all the people in these houses our neighbors?” (he’s referring to the many houses in our subdivision) I responded in the affirmative, although I clarified that most people consider your neighbors to be those people that live closest to us. Then I asked, “Did you know somebody asked Jesus this question, too? Would you like to know what Jesus said?” My dear son responded no, and that was the end of the discussion. But I kept thinking about it.
I had the excuse of newly moving in, teaching a class, being pregnant, being quite sick, for why I hadn’t taken the time to reach out to my neighbors. Right now it might be pride since I really want to make cream cheese bread, which I typically have given to new neighbors in the past, and I haven’t taken the time to make it. But if I want to teach my children who our neighbors are, then I need to start showing them.
Goal: Make cheese bread this weekend. Take to immediate neighbors.
