I’ve noticed that the discipline needs of my children seem more apparent after a vacation. It’s possible that during vacations we stop consistently disciplining and then we reap the consequences, but I think it’s just as likely that there’s something about vacations and company that make us more aware of how we are currently teaching our children.
So instead of dreading the increase of acuity, perhaps I should be thankful for it, expect it, and plan to respond to the gift of additional insight into the specific needs of my children.
- I’ve noticed some specific needs for responding quickly to disobedience
- I’ve decided to directly respond when my children cry after being given a command.
- I’ve become aware that one child needs help to stop a bad habit.
- I’ve realized that I need more time in God’s Word. I need to be equipped for the task of parenting that God has given me. I need more knowledge to do it well.
That’s all for now.
