Today we started Chapter 2 of Parenting with Wisdom. We didn’t get very far, but we did start it. Of course, if you know anything about my mom you probably can guess what the secret ingredient is. 🙂 You can find the answer in Proverbs 24:3
Through wisdom is an house builded; and by understanding it is established; and by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches”
It’s easy to value the wrong things. We admire a mom with many children because she is so experienced, but wisdom isn’t experience. In fact, a mom with many children can be just as devoid of wisdom as a mom with one child. I have been blessed with parents who know and love God’s word, but that doesn’t guarantee me wisdom.
We don’t even have to be Bible “experts” to have wisdom. Look at Proverbs 2. We do have to be seeking for wisdom as for hid treasure. We have to be using what we know. It’s easy to be discouraged if you’re starting late, or don’t have a lot of knowledge about the Bible, or didn’t have a Christian home. But those aren’t prerequisites for wisdom.
