Therefore let those who suffer according to the will of God commit their souls to Him in doing good, as to a faithful Creator. I Peter 4:19
Now, few of us really suffer like the early Christians suffered, but we all carry burdens of some sort. (Paul called them “light afflictions”.) Let’s not quibble about who has the bigger burden.
What I have appreciated is my mom’s observation that Peter tells suffering saints to trust the faithful Creator. That’s because the faithful creator is both powerful and faithful to maintain his creation. We can trust such a God. We can do right even when those around us don’t.
I haven’t bothered to examine how this relates to my children. God’s teaching me right now, and I know it will trickle down.
