Today was much better than yesterday. Still a lot of emotions around here, but I was more sane, so that helped immensely. To be truthful, I started better. I made the Lord my refuge instead of… oh, many things I do when I”m overwhelmed (Ps 62:1). I suppose it also helped that the kids woke up closer to 8:00 instead of 7:00, so I had more time to get ready for the day.
Tidbits:
- When I told Bethel to eat with her spoon instead of her fingers, she replied tearfully “I realllllllly want to eat with my fingers.” That’s okay, kid. Mommy doesn’t always want to obey either, but we still have to.
- I gave Laurel (5 months) some bits of a roll today. She loved it. At this stage in her life, food is entertainment. Basically, I give her food when she’s bored (or I happen to think of it), but if I don’t feel like giving her any, all she gets is mommy’s milk.
- David is having a hard time sleeping because he’s planning the rockets he will build in the morning. He’s going to make an alligator rocket (with the jaws holding the nose cone), a sponge rocket, a light-up rocket, and a cardboard rocket. He will probably keep himself awake for several hours thinking about rockets. He is his daddy’s son. Lee does the same thing, sometimes.
- I don’t think I said anything spiritual to my children today. We did pray for our food. Mommy did read her Bible a lot (and not for show, so it counts). I did have several “Was that kind?” talks with both older children.
